Independence for me Ltd is a small independent day service and PA provision in Daventry and the surrounding area, supporting adults with learning difficulties to achieve realistic goals through having fun!
We offer a wide and diverse range of experiences and opportunities, e a variety of specialists and instructors in to visit during the week to help deliver these. These include Tai chi with Sian, aerobics and dancing with Kylie, barn dancing with Lisa, yoga with Nikki, band practice with Bobby, football with Chris, sound bath emersion therapy with Mandy, mindfulness and meditation with Michelle and pampering/ nails and beauty therapy with Danya.
As well as these activities, we do arts and crafts, project work, celebrating different National and World days and festivals, workshops, parties, walks, picnics, BBQ’s and celebrating people’s special days. We also offer volunteering which is great for boosting communication and confidence. Life skills that we embed into these activities include meal planning and cooking, healthy living, exercise, baking, road safety, transport, shopping/ money skills, cleaning/ ironing/ hovering, literacy and numeracy, going out in the community/ social skills, social media safety, recycling and emotional well-being.
We like to go to lots of different places including Gateway in Towcester, Road mender, museums, markets, farm shops, country parks, theatres, cinemas, golf ranges, bowling, cafes, restaurants, canals, garden centres (for our planters) Costco, IKEA, airports, farms and zoos , and many more.
We have parties throughout the year- at our summer barn dance; two of our favourite alpacas joined us!
We have a full membership at a local 4* hotel and leisure complex which we use for swimming and the gym throughout the week. We also have a mobile hairdresser offering regular appointments.
We have a computer suite and art room, big kitchen, large hall, bowling green, football pitch and outside eating area. We have a garden where we grow plants, herbs and vegetables and we use this area for outside yoga and maypole dancing when it’s dry!
We have holidays and short breaks throughout the year; this year we are going to Shropshire. We have just bought a 3 bedroomed house in Daventry and are currently going through CQC registration.
